I love praHna's Brion pants and have worn them fora decade now. They are durable, water/liquid resistant, non wrinkling, and simple. No extra pockets, tricky zipper, etc. PraHna's new iteration of the Brion pants- the Brion II- are still good and styled the same as the original BUT the material they now use is lighter weight and a but shiny, like polyester pants I used to wear years ago when they were fashionable. I'm not thrilled with the change. Everything else about the new version is good, however, so I'll probably still buy them. Proves the point, "not broke? Don't fix em."I bought a pair of these 2-3 years ago. They are still holding up, just like the first day I started wearing them! I really enjoy them all the time! I actually own 5 pairs in different colors now! They are true to size, and what I like most about them is that they are a smidgen stretchy. This makes them even more comfortable to me! I wash them separately in cold and always hang them to dry. I’ve had things spill on them, and the liquid runs right off. There is NEVER a stain!Highly recommend prAna. A bit expensive, but you get what you pay for. Five stars indeed!!I had the old Brion pants & absolutely loved them. With these new ones, the fabric is a little shinier, which I can live with ... but it also started pilling almost immediately, which I can't.I've only washed them a couple of times & I've never air dried them. Nonetheless, the fabric is getting pilly all over, which makes them look shabby & feel worse. Not sure the pic really captures it.It's irritating. These are a real step down from the previous Brions.I’ve purchased several pairs of the original Brion pants and shorts over the years. Best pants I’ve ever owned. The new version is a big disappointment. Two of the seams have threads hanging out. The material feels very thin and cheap. Also, it’s shiny. I thought the shininess might go away after being washed a few times— No such luck. It just looks silly. These pants will be returned. Lastly, the material shows ever contour of the items in your pockets and whatnot. They are a bit more snug and the fabric is a little shinier (water resistant). You probably won't fit into your own size, so order one size up. Are these different than the originals? Yes. Is that bad? No actually, and I am a bit surprised. While I am a little crushed I'm not wearing my smaller vanity pant size, these fit well. I love the dark iron color, a dark neutral gray I can wear with almost anything I have in my wardrobe, casual or dressier. These look more like a travel/casual office day pant than an outdoor adventure pant. I could see that styling choice upsetting some true outdoor people, but for me this is a feature, not a bug. These are going to be very useful in upcoming adventures to Europe and South America as part of a light minimalist pack. The material is thin and has some stretch. It might not be the best choice for colder/late fall weather without thermals under. But for temperatures ranging 50F and up, its just great.I was ready to send these back if they sucked and jump on the trash the new Brions bandwagon, but these are not at all bad. I have owned half a dozen pairs of these over the years in the previous incarnation, and I have just put in an oder for another color today. If you liked the originals, you should at least give these a try providing there's nothing in what I've previously mentioned in this review kills it for you. I personally am very happy with the new material and design, and I feel they have actually improved on the original pant.I wear the original brion pants as my only pants. Stretchy, comfy, breathable, and formal-enough for work events or going out. The fabric on these is not nearly as stretchy, feels like it will tear easily, and is far smaller than the same size in the original brion pants. Now I need to find a new brand!
