I wasn’t sure after reading the reviews if I would like these. Seemed to be mixed. I haven’t taken them on trail yet but I plan to take them hiking in the Tetons next week. I’ll let ya know if I have any unexpected issues.What I love so far:SPF & moisture wicking. The material has a slight stretch to it (which makes it great for climbing & hiking), it feels soft on my skin & to the touch, but also feel quite durable. It is a light material so more of an late spring, summer, early fall pant, but if I put a base layer under them I think late fall, warmer winter day & early spring would be perfect.All the zippers seem really well made & sturdy. I love the red zipper for the left leg. Makes it so easy to zip back on (especially while on the trail). And I love that the leg zips open so I can take it off over my hiking boots. The leg zippers don’t seem to bother my legs at all (we will see after a day of hiking). The length of the shorts is just perfect. Above the knee but not bootie shorts. I like that o can go hike in pants to protect my legs but if I get hot- they easily transition into shorts.Love all the pockets & that they all zip close. The right light pocket fits my Apple iPhone 14 with a case. I can’t zip it closed, but it’s very sturdy there. Nice when I need to grab my phone & take a pic. I don’t mind if it doesn’t zip closed because the positioning of it & fit to my leg will hold it in. If I need to really secure it then I’ll put it in my pack. (Note: if I take my phone out of its case I can zip the pocket closed).Love the color. I got the navy & it’s a really nice blue color. Probably a little brighter in person than the photo shows.Size wise I think they run right at size. I bought a 4 short. I’m 5’2” & 135 pounds. I am right in the middle of the measurements for the size 4. I am also a member of the thick thighs club & these did not constrain my legs or feel tight on my quads at all. And for my short legs the length was perfect. No dragging on the ground for the pant legs. They fit me perfect. Not too tight but also not baggy. If you wanted them baggy, size up. I was worried about the built in belt after reading reviews, but I actually like it. It works for me & my body type. Which is nice cuz I hate wearing a belt when my pack has to sit on my waist. I normally summer hike in running shorts, so I think I’ll like these as another alternative. I will probably get a few more colors after I use them this fall.
